Snowshoeing to Artist's Point

'Spring' break outing with our school teacher, Nate Van Meeteren, his wife Esther, her brother Todd, her sister Betsy and husband Seth, Raphael Neff, Ron and I. We were up in the Mount Baker area snowshoeing. It was a beautiful day; the temperature was right around freezing and later there was some slight thawing. The skies were clear and deep blue, there was no noticeable breeze so it was quite warm with the arduous work of climbing in over-sized shoes. It was an incredible experience, our great Creator God's marvelous handiwork. The joy of the earth, Mount Zion. From the mountains round about, the joy of the earth was our delight; the mountains and hills, the valleys and forests, the snow and frost, with crystals in jeweled crest brought forth to view by the light and glory of the sun, the paths up the mountains away from the canyons, yet in view of the canyons all around, the lone pine tree with snow covered bows, the small stands of evergreens with the sun radiating on their snow garb, the clustered forest trees - much whitened with mounded snow fall on all the branches, yet sharpened in outline by their strong, sturdy dark green branches in graduated size. The photos 'tell' some of the story of our wonderful hike in God's Paradise of beauty. To Him is the glory with all thanksgiving and so much blessing.

    1. Thanks Rose, such a wonderful time on the trails in the snow covered mountains. It is notable how much time Jesus spent out of doors, and how often He used the creation to bring parables, lessons, and reflection on His and our God's creation wonders. Outside in God's creation He often resorted to pray and supplicate to His Father, Almighty God; His busy, arduous, 'long' pilgrimage fulfilling for us a life of devotion and faithfulness in every duty and call. Thanking God for the time together!

  2. "O Lord, how manifold the works in wisdom wrought by Thee; the wealth of Thy creation fills the earth and mighty sea. Let God rejoice in all His works, and let His works proclaim for evermore their Maker's praise and glorify His Name. While life shall last, my thankful lips a song to God will raise, and while my being I possess, my Maker I will praise. My heart shall thing upon His grace in meditation sweet; my soul, rejoicing in the Lord, His praises shall repeat." Ps. 104
